Teamly is a tool that’s useful both to individuals as well managers inside companies. We help people focus on what’s really important and move beyond their mile-long to-do list. But our existing case studies focus on companies that use Teamly so we wanted this time to show an example of an individual that uses and loves Teamly.
Timo Häkkinen is a self-employed web-developer in Finland who signed up for Teamly over 6 months ago. Häkkinen is a good judge of what makes a web service like Teamly good: he’s passionate about creating usable websites with a beautiful front end and smart back end for his own clients! (You can see for yourself on his own rather cool site: Hobo)
Why did you sign up?
I think I saw Cameron Herold tweet about Teamly and I had read Leo Babauta’s The Power of Less just few months before. I was already thinking about quitting my job at the time and I had a strong desire to work the way I wanted to. I needed that freedom and Teamly just made a lot of sense to me. I saw it as one tool to help me get to where I wanted to as far as getting things done was considered.
What are your thoughts so far?
I love it! It took a while to get into the habit of using it and really getting the power out of it. You know, not lying to yourself about whether you started or finished something just to score better. Even though I knew why it was the way it was, it took some time in my head to adjust to it and realize that it only works if I’m honest about my priorities and their status.
Has it made you more effective?
Yes! It really makes me focus and helps me not to try and forget things I hate dealing with. Getting something nasty out of the way and seeing it change from yellow to green feels incredible!
What do you really like about Teamly?
The simplicity! I don’t usually go beyond the main dashboard, so I love how to-the-point it is. Also the fact that you guys still stick with the basic principle and don’t add loads of useless extra features. Keep-it-simple-stupid, all the way!
But it’s not just the product. I like how you guys keep on making Teamly better, but I also like the way you interact with your users. You guys actually follow your Twitter feed and reply to people. I follow your blog and actually enjoy getting emails from you. Also, if I think of a feature or just want to give feedback, it doesn’t feel like I’m trying to get hold of a giant corporation – I almost feel like I’m writing to a friend, and I always get a friendly reply. Having your customers view you guys that open and approachable is something you should be very proud of.
Have you subscribed to Teamly?
Yep! When you first introduced the plans, I went “Uh oh, so I gotta start paying for this now?” You know that first reaction that happens within a split second, right? Well, another split second went by and I found myself thinking “Well, I mean, it makes sense. Of course they need some users paying for this to be able to keep on going.” I wasn’t even done reading the announcement when I had already made up my mind to sign up. “I might not even need any of the pro features yet, but they deserve my support!”
And when I finally saw the prices, I thought, “Pro account for $8 per month? What a bargain!” Considering how much I love Teamly and how much it helps me every single day, I consider Teamly practically free.
